is an ironic collage that subverts the codes of the art gallery and the contemporary art market. Inspired by a typical Tunisian summer spectacle - the “404 bachées” loaded with watermelons, sold at half or a quarter price to reassure hesitant customers, in the souk - the work reenacts this popular scene in a hybrid space, between the chaotic souk and the sanitized gallery.
Here, the watermelons become exhibition objects, marked with “red dots” as in galleries to indicate their acquisition. This deliberate dissonance questions market logic, the symbolic value of art, and the fine line between the banal and the artistic.
